Did you know that the average American walks around 3,000 to 4,000 steps a day? In miles that would be equal to 1.5 and 2 miles. The average American consumes around 3,600 calories a day. To put it into context the average calories burnt by an active male is around 2,000 to 2,500. For the female is 1,500 to 2,000. In the US the average person, eats over a THOUSAND Calories per day without doing any exercises. This is not a post to talk about diets or better eating. It is about implementing a simple habit that can make you much healthier. It does not require much, is simple as walking. Literally is just walking. You can eat however you want but take into consideration the people who care about you. Take into consideration what you can possibly achieve. By just walking you have the possibility of eating more and losing weight. 10,000 steps are the number you should go for every day. It helps you have better mental health. Physical activity is important and more if you are overeating. If you do not have time for the gym just walk.

Which one are you?

10,000 steps sound an overwhelming amount of walking. But if you are an active person, 10,000 steps are noting. To put it into context 10,000 steps equals is around five miles. Also, doing that amount of walking burns 600 calories. If you do that every single day, in a week you would burn 4,200 calories by just walking. That is ridiculous, it needs to be mention that 10,000 steps take around two hours of walking. If you do not have two hours for yourself, you need to reorganize your agenda for the day. In addition of burning calories, it could make your heart stronger. The reason behind it the heart will pump more blood per beat. The fat that you are storing could be less if you are active. The body uses calories to fuel key part of the human’s body. An active person will process food much differently than an inactive person. Guess what? Being an active person can help you to handle those cheat days. Lastly, it will improve your brain performance. There have been studies that exercise make the brain can reorganize, repair, and adapt. In other words, exercising can keep you young.

Mental health is important. Walking gives you time for yourself. You can use those two hours to get to know your mind and what type of thoughts are always going through your head. Walking makes you present; it makes you feel that nothing else in the world matters. Going outdoors makes you think about the problems you have and the goals you are aspiring to achieve. Then this sensation of tranquility comes into your body and you let go of everything that stresses you. Do not take for granted walking, is the most underrated physical activity that exist. It has multiple benefits and is wonderful for your body.

How to do 10000 steps a day

There are multiple ways you can approach to do ten thousand of steps per day. The first one is waking up early in the morning before your job or school and start walking through the place you live. If you do not finish the goal live it for later or during the day, walk every hour for ten minutes.

The second approach is that in every hour you walk around 500 steps.

The main point is trying to stay active and not sedentary for the entire day.

If ten thousand steps is an unachievable goal try to reach 8,000 and start adding up from there.
